Well, the Europa League qualifiers was drawn earlier this week, and we have been paired against FC Lusitans from Andorra.
Andorra is between France and Spain and having looked into it, the journey would be a nightmare to get to – plane to Barcelona, three hour drive to Andorra, sleep, eat, and then back………….and on a Thursday as well!
Suffice to say that this will be avoided as much as I would like to get over there. Cost and timing does not do the tie any favours.
So I will looking for a random TV station that will be broadcasting the match – we have 600 on our Swisscom box – surely there is one?
This will also be Bilic’s first proper game in charge – we need to win a staggering 23 games to get to the final and the task is not going to be easy. I remember seeing my first European Hammers game in the InterToto Cup in 1999 – FC Jokerit we played with a small crowd at the Boleyn – as well as UEFA Cup games against Palermo, Steaua and Osijek – so they were special nights I am glad that I went to.
Not sure what will happen but this is going to put a strain on the team with new signings not eligible to play in the qualifiers so I understand. So Bilic needs to ensure that he gets the best out of all the squad and then ready for the Gooners at the start of the season.
I am hoping that we go for this competition – on paper we should thrash this lot, but knowing West Ham, we will draw at home and lose away………
Fortunes always hiding?
