Having looked at my inventory of TLV and Neo, I have noted that it is dominated by Nissan and Toyota. You need to have diversity to keep things interesting and healthy, but the appeal for Cedrics and Crowns is sometimes a little too great. I think I have got all the models that I wanted from the main players and I am sure that there are more to be had at some stage.
But it is right to cast the net further and therefore recently I brought in a Honda from 1977 – the 1300SS. Whilst not a massively known car, I can vaguely recall seeing it on the roads at some stage in the late 70s/early 80s – or was that the S800?
It is a wee little thing – if you stick it next to a R35 GT-R it looks daftly small. But that does not mean that the standards have slipped. All the usual refinements from Tomytec are there. I shall not attempt to bore you to death as it has been mused by me time and time again on the subject matter.
The other appeal of the car is the colour scheme – again, the Garage has a massive of white, grey and dull, so this livens it up a tad. And it is also mental to think that its successor was the Accord. And whilst looking at the history of the 1300SS as well as the Accord, I found out about other lesser known Honda’s such as the JDM Ascot, Vigor and Inspire. What perfect candidates for a casting creation!
Bloody hell, this seems to have been an inspired choice. Worth adding to your 1/64 collection.
