Estate cars are now becoming increasingly more important as part of the Garage. Like my musings on the Alfa 159 Sportwagon I want to have variation and I have mentioned this before.
What I really want Tomica or like to create is a Nissan Stagea RS Autech version in 1/64. This would be the JDM equivalent of a Volvo 850R or such……I am lucky enough to have got the Hi Story 1/43 Resin version at a good price a few years back – how they are rare and command a huge price.
But let’s rewind a little – and go back to the origins of the Stagea which could be said derive from the humble beginnings of the Prince/Nissan Skyline. I am not a massive fan of the C110 range – give me R30 onwards any day, but as a fan of the Skyline and the models that made the range, then I thought it was right to add this model to the Garage. Mainly because it was an estate mind.
For some reason it just reminds me of the 120Y and Datsun Bluebird of the time – but that is the car itself. We have all the usual TLV quality here – the whitewalls are rather splendid. But most importantly it is an estate car. All too often we just have masses and masses of saloons sports cars of the same. Indeed the TLV line could be viewed as a saturation of Cedric, Crown and Gloria, so this kind of car punctuates the range well.
It is also a reason why I want to add 1/64 commercials as well – diversity is important.
