The one thing you will notice about the Lamley blog is that there are a shed load of promoting going on.
You have to read back on some his posts – in that due to the current shit state of distribution, procure your Matchbox collection by any means how.
Now, this is all well and good – but the product should be available in shops as it always should have. But now the problem is that dealers seem to be getting these crates of Mattel sock and feel free to exploit the collector or more to the point numbnuts who want to pay daft prices for a toy car worth no more than £1.50.
Consider the listing below by Wheel Collectors:
Since when did a £1.50 car cost $16.99 – and who in their right mind would pay that much? I mean, that is the price of a TLV Neo – and the quality is far better.
I find it sad that Lambert and his blog promote such methods to obtain Matchbox these days – there seems to be something very suspect with “Lamley Partners” – more to the point that Lambert tends to procure a lot of diecast from selected people…….and then in turn encourage people to buy from these dealers.
The damage to the Matchbox brand is great – and Lamley does not help matters here. Of course it is the choice of the individual to pay silly prices. And if pockets are deep, bully for them.
But I would say avoid – avoid tossers like Wheel Collectors and their over inflated prices on Matchbox and stand up to these idiots who want to make money from the unsuspected.
Lambert will merely say that he is offering some help to those who cannot get hold of the models (again, the irony – the problem of distribution which Lambert thinks there is no problem).
But look deeper – everytime you click on one of his link, it is a affiliate link –
What should be a direct link to ebay (http://stores.ebay.com/wheelcollectors/Matchbox-2016-/_i.html?_fsub=10753758014&_sid=281364244&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322) for these rip offs is in fact click bate, which means that everytime an item is bought from the Lamley click, he makes money:
so using the post under:
hover over the hyperlink:
2016 Matchbox Batch L at Wheel Collectors
and the following will show within your status bar
So, showcasing the models coming in has a massive benefit for the Lamley blog – he will state that he is doing it for the good of the wider audience – I think he is just lining his pockets.
Like most things Lamley, it is all about the spin – and John Lambert is very good at that.
