One of the most iconic cars of the 1980s has hit the small scene in the form of the HF ‘Grale. It was one of those cars which was much sought after with its classic 80s styling but with the flared wheel arches, pepper pot rims and only available in LHD.
So it is pleasing to see that Tomytec have decided to release their interpretation of the vehicle in 1/64 scale. I have to say that this has been a casting that I have really looked forward to adding to the Garage.
And for 95% of the model, it ticks. Badging in the lower sill; detail at the rump, accurately captured. But at the £15 price point, I want to see perfection. The HF Intergrale badging is missing from the front grille – a small detail, but should not have been overlooked. And then we have my age old issue of the wheels.
Whilst nicely created, we should be seeing a two-fold colour scheme. We have the white outer rim, bu the main wheel should be steel grey as opposed to a single colour, in this case black. It is disappointing to see TBH and I so wish they had got it right, as it does flaw the model a tad.
Am I being uber zealous over this? Some may think so – however, the stakes are high in this sector and the collector deserves to be spoilt.
How annoying – so almost there. But worthy nevertheless.
