Well, here is the thing.
The GBBO Final was on and that is always worth watching. In fact if I didn’t watch it with the Mrs, the grief would not be worth the hassle.
Candice won in the end – her final bakes lacked errors, so well done her.
I followed this game via the BBC Sport app and caught the last 20 minutes on TV (ahem).
I was amazed to note that Kouyate scored on 11 minutes against a side that walloped Utd 4-0 on the weekend. And it was not as if they put out the reserves either. Both sides had fielded fairly strong sides.
Unbelievable. A lovely cross in by Nobes and that glancing header left Begovic with no chance.
This is a team that is languishing in 15th int he Premier League with such a bad start to the season. By all accounts it seemed that the Hammers were well up for this game, despite the strength of the Chelsea side.
I was a little critical of Fernandes on Sat against Sunderland, but his strike on 48 mins was low, hard and should not have really been allowed. 2-0 up and Chelsea all to do.
BBC text – gotta love it.
Once Candice had been crowned GBBO Winner, the last 20 mins was interesting. Chelsea could not score for toffee. Costa, Willan, Hazard – all had chances, all fluffed their lines.
Payet should have added a third but for the finger tips of Begovic, the opportunity was denied. Deep in injury time, Cahill draws one back, but it was too little, too late. The Hammers had won and into the quarter finals of the League Cup, which is not a bad thing and possibly the boost that we need to really get the season under way.
Good to see Ayew back playing – he almost got on the scoresheet as well – that would have been a priceless moment.
And as the draw as been made, Utd away in the next round………..that should be fun.
What was a little worrying is that it did kick off in the ground.

Sad scenes. There are hundreds of spectators who are just out for a fight. This has been brewing all night. It’s been hard to watch the match because of the flash points developing. The stewards have got a tough job here. Fans are trying to burst at each other. They’ve been hurling missiles at each other. It looks like plastic bottles and I’ve seen what looks like three or four plastic seats being thrown.
Why, oh why did some go there to have a row? This is madness and the Hammers are getting a bad reputation at the moment for aggro. Ok, there was grief at the Boleyn, but this now seems to happen at every single home game these days.
Everyone said there would be trouble………I think if I was at the game, I would be a little nervous trying to get home.
So thanks to all the idiots who marred a great win by fucking it up in having a fight. You cannot be or are West Ham.
