Pottering about – Hammers 1, Stoke 1

Bojan Krkic scores for Stoke against West Ham

One more game that I missed watching due to a chidren’s birthday party and the misfortune of bumping into a twat of a Burnley fan and his stuck up Mrs as well. Never a good experience, and by all accounts, this game was pretty much the same as well.

But some good cheer – I did manage to finally sell my ticket via the ticket exchange, so I have (in theory) some credit back against the ST. Which is nice………..

Once again, I can’t really comment on the game as I didn’t see all of it, but merely caught the highlights. Stoke were pressing for most of the first half, with the Hammers trying but not really getting in there with the possession and play. Quite dull.

Second half a different story – Antonio gets a deft header into goal via Payet’s cross, but it has gone down as an own goal by Whelan as it skims off him.

Looking at the BBC Sport updates, I was very pleased that we had taken the initiative by going a goal up – this could only give the team confidence. But all the work was undone by Adrian’s moment of sheer daftness. He came out and brought down Walters which would have meant a penalty, but the ref played on and there was Bojan Krkic to tap in the goal and level it all up.

Utterly ridiculous and unnecessary. And a throw away of three points. Perhaps it is time that Randolph was given a bit of airtime between the sticks so that we can shake it up a little. Methinks Adrian – a great keeper – needs a timely reminder that he is not guaranteed the keepers spot on name or reputation alone.

Ayew? Well, £20m is a lot of money for a striker and I know he has come back from injury, but there is nothing I have seen to say that he is going to be the that 20-goal a season player we really do need. Zaza not even getting a look in today – I seriously think his time is numbered here at the Hammers.

I will take a point and the “unbeaten” run still continues at “home” despite all the hoo-haa with regards to the costings of the LS and the negative press running at the moment. But I want to see a vast improvement again – there are signs of a recovery, but at the moment, we are just far too close to the foot of the table for my liking.

International break sees up against the Spuds next on 19th Nov followed by two trips to Old Trafford and then my next home game against the Arse.  This is not going to be easy at all…………..

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic: “It’s a frustrating result but it’s a fair result. It’s a mistake by Adrian.

“It looked like he was never going to get to the ball. We gave that goal away very cheaply. We were 1-0 up with 15 minutes to go. A very cheap goal has cost us a win.”
