Tomica Series – No.95 LONDON BUS

It is a shame that Matchbox no longer produce MB17 The Londoner. Based on the Leyland Titan, this was a staple in the range for many a year. Sadly, Mattel refuse to create a new or revised version of the London Bus these days (I blame John Lambert…….), but there is some comfort that Tomica do a version which has been part of their line up for a while.

This is a case of the box looking nothing like the model – the picture on the box just looks like some faux JDM creation. But the model itself is derived from the Daimler Fleetline.

It does the job, the interior is pretty impressive. From the base of the model, the casting seems to be approaching 40 years old. Quite amazing really.

I would have liked to have seen a proper licensed banner as an advertising content on the side of the bus as well as the LT sign to give it that authentic feel. The rear end should have been metal as opposed to plastic. But I will take this – not everyday you get to add a Daimler Fleetline to the collection.

Question is, will Tomica look to update this one at all – Leyland Olympian anyone?
