Corgi cock up again…….

If this was on the John Lambert blog, that clown would be getting all giddy over the forthcoming releases this week. Thankfully, he doesn’t really pay attention to this scale or range, so that is alright in my book.

I raised an eyebrow in the vain hope that there may be something to give the collector – there have been some very barren years under the Hornby tenure which has taken a very good line and decimated it to re-hashed and boring re-castings.

OK, it has not helped that ModelZone have gone out of business which was their main supply route, but nevertheless, there has been a good solid support for these models from loyal collectors such as myself over many years.

And now look at the second half releases for 2017.

Absolutely nothing here – Ford fans are well catered for, but the rest is just a bodge re-hash of old castings with Corgi marketing hype trying to put a positive spin on a chronically dire situation.

I cannot understand what has gone so wrong here that Corgi simply cannot get a new casting out – of anything! With the huge back catalogue of BLARG and other British cars there is plenty of material to keep the range going for quite some time, but I do not understand why there has been a lack of investment here. I am not even going to bother with the models – just a bunch of re-colours.

Hornby has not had the best of times in trading but surely neglecting one of the most popular lines is not helping matters either.

I have now all but given up on this range, which is a very sad thing as I have collected the models since the inception back in 1996 when they were made in England and Lledo branded.

I have got nothing else to say really…….just a sorry state of affairs and Corgi just doing their best to alienate the scale collector. Thankfully we have folk like Tomica who don’t piss about and just keep producing the goods. Perhaps Hornby could really learn a thing or two here……….

I am not even going to bother with 2018, Corgi are so far off the mark. Well done in destroying your customer base.
